Hi and welcome to the Scary Goals Club podcast. It has been such an interesting week in terms of my [00:01:00] brain. So I recorded a podcast last week and at the end of it, if you're listening to this like it will have got out, but I, hang on let me just adjust the camera there. I recorded the podcast and at the end I've talked about this group program that I'm launching, which is super exciting.
I have, and anyway, within it is like a sign up link so that you can sign up, apply and be part of it. And literally, I, I don't know if it's like, I think there's an element of haven't done it in a while, that kind of piece of like creating the sign up page. I haven't done it before, like having a sign up form that's like, Also an application form, and you pay a deposit, and anyway, the whole process for it.
So there's an element of not doing something before, but I think there's also an element of being really scared. Because this is something new, like doing a group coaching [00:02:00] program, it's over three months, over 90 days, 12 weeks. And I haven't done that before. I've done a group program where I had pre recorded modules and then we had like a weekly call and I've done in person stuff and I've done one on one coaching, but a group program is like in this thing where it's like, we come together at a start point and then an end point, like in three months and with the calls, I haven't done it before.
And so there's an element of like fear in there. And it was so interesting. Like. Do you ever get this and I know it's like self sabotage and I know it's like my brain coming up with all the reasons it's not going to work and there's all these like excuses is literally so many things have felt really hard even though I've checked been checking with my intuition like and it's like no you're doing doing the group like this is what you had decided this is what you want there's still all that fear I'm so like [00:03:00] trying to even like write the words of like what it's about and like explain it and I was just like getting myself confused it was like so long and then I was trying to cut it back and just that whole thing it's like that is a form of almost like self sabotage like My brain trying to keep me safe.
It was like, oh but I don't know with this and is it this? And it was almost like a bit of confusion a bit of it's so hard a bit of like trying to make everything perfect That's why I noticed rather than just like Get the information on there, get out into the world Just like start talking about it. So I talked about on the podcast.
I'm speaking about it on this one and Like, honestly, like, I feel like every, there's so many things that have come up this week and it's like, oh, this is another reason it's hard, this is another reason it's hard, and just watching my brain. And so, I just want to offer that, like, for you, when you're working towards your [00:04:00] bigger goals and working towards doing something new, doing something different, like, this might be what's happening with you as well.
You're like, you go after this goal, and suddenly. All these, like, what feel like obstacles come up and your brain almost, like, makes these other obstacles of, like, Oh, this is so hard. And, like, oh, I don't know how to do this. And, like, this is really difficult. And there's, like, there's the things to figure out.
And then there's, like, all the drama. Like, the drama, but, like, all the stuff that we add on top. I have been in that this week. And, like, even this morning, I, like, had a bit more energy this morning. And I've got, like, today and tomorrow. And it's, like I know that I had a clean, like a clear run as it were to get the podcast published, record another one because I'm going to put two out this week to be like, I'm so sorry for not having one last week.
And also like get the Silent Blake live and start talking about it. And in, in the shower this morning, it was so interesting. I just felt this like resistance. So it was like. You know, there's been excuses before of like I'm a bit [00:05:00] tired or like this or I couldn't quite figure out the words on that like basically all these excuses and This morning.
It was like I had none of those I had energy I've got like pretty much the signup form and for the deposit and everything like it's pretty much ready to go I could press publish and it would make sense So it just needs like a final read through and check and like an edit maybe take some of the words out and I could feel like in in the morning like almost this like Lump in my chest this morning, like resistance to doing it and if you ever find that you have that, like there's something that you want to do.
Like ultimately I want to do this, but there is this like, you, it's almost like you cannot make yourself do it, that is what I've been in, it's like, uh, like, uh, and it's so interesting, I've been doing a lot of like. It's a lot of work with like inner child work and understanding because basically if you don't know what that is, basically [00:06:00] there's our conscious mind of like what we are aware of and what we're thinking about, but so much of what we do, what we think, what we believe, like all our habits and feelings, like they are habitual and they're in our subconscious mind and like feeling in our body and like we're not even aware of it.
And these are a lot of times. are like default patterns and things that we're not even aware of, they've been in place since childhood. Like, they have been, we've taken them on from somewhere else, someone else, or like, society, we've just internalised it, it's what we've been told, it's what we've seen demonstrated to us, something has happened that like sticks in as an experience, and we internalise it and we like create a belief around it, and then that shows up in different places in our life.
I'm like 39, and the thing that came up this morning, it was so interesting, because I was like, okay, there's resistance there, and I know, like, in that moment, it's like little Hazel that's, like, having a hard time, because something has happened in the past, and [00:07:00] I'm scared, or it's like, there's fear there, and the thing to do, oftentimes, like, you know, we beat ourselves up, or shame ourselves, like, why can't I even do this?
And it's like, actually, when you can just Imagine it's this little version of you and just be so kind to that, it's like what does that little version of you need to hear, did they need to hear back then? And it's like that's what you need to hear now. And so I was like, in the shower, just like doing some processing and like coming back and the image that kept popping into my mind was like, and this is going to sound so crazy.
But this is, this is what happens is there's like things that happen like this image, it's like this movie in my mind that kept coming up and replaying over and over was from when I was four years old. And it's not even something that like you would listen and like, feels like it's that traumatic as it were like with big T trauma, you know, you think of like something like abuse, but it's, [00:08:00] it obviously stuck with me and it's obviously something that when I check in is like coming up.
Now, and I was playing, it must have been something like te, was it badminton or something? Something like that with my gran in, in the garden when I was like four years old.
and I kept maybe like. dropping it, or missing the shuttlecock, or not being able to hit it back, or whatever. And every time I did that, she would go, Oh, butterfingers! Which, like, literally, it's something that, like, grandparents would maybe say. But actually, like, for me, and I guess what I was, like, what was coming up this morning when I was tuning in, was I was, like, imagining me as that four year old.
And, like, that, it's almost like every time I was making a mistake, It was like being called out. I think that's what it is. Whereas, you know, for example, if we're playing, we get, we have like a balloon and we play like racket, hit up a balloon, like with Flynn and anytime he misses it, we're [00:09:00] like, keep going.
Or we just don't even mention it. It's almost like it's not even a thing to point. We don't point out any mistakes. If it's like he tripped and fell, we'd like, see if he needed a couple of cuddle or whatever. But like, we don't even. Don't even point out the mistakes or we're just like keep going you've got it like yeah, you can do it like it's like encouragement rather than like pointing out the mistakes and She probably didn't do it intentionally or maybe that's what was done to her as a kid like my gran and and yet That was coming up and it's almost like Like creating this new program and this like group coaching program and launching it there is a fear there of making a mistake of No one's signing up, and it's like, me, and just, like, to be fair, if there's two people on it, I'm, like, limiting it to ten, but, like, if there's two, like, it's going ahead, like, we're doing it, and it's just, like, pretty much almost, like, private coaching.
Um, I'm so passionate about actually doing it, and doing it in a group setting, that, like, that's [00:10:00] okay, but I'm like, oh, what is this, what, you know, it's like, it's that fear of doing something new, fear of failure, I guess, and, like, making a mistake, and Even though I have made so many mistakes, I have failed so many times, like, I can come to that place, like, when I'm coming from my, like, higher self and my, like, future self, I can come to that place.
In that moment, what was coming up was just this, like, little four year old me who was, like, making mistakes and they were being pointed out. And how interesting is that, that, like, thirty whatever, five years later, That's what's coming up, and, like, this will be happening with you as well, like, if there's some, something that feels harder, you're just not doing it, there'll be something that's happened, something someone said to you, some, some moment in time, where, like, you adopted, you took on a belief, like, I can't even think what the belief would have been, [00:11:00] I'm not good enough, I'm gonna mess this up, something, it was something around that, and so just in that moment, and you can try this too if you notice the resistance coming up, is like, You know, I was just like processing the feelings, and I was just closing my eyes, and I could feel the tears coming up, and I could feel the emotion, like, releasing, and I was just saying to myself, like, what I would have said to that four year old version of me.
Like, if I had been there now, if I was there watching that interaction, what I would have said as an adult knowing that, and I would have been like, you're doing amazing, like, keep going, like, you've never played badminton before, like, you're learning, keep practicing, keep working on it, like, you can totally do it.
And it's like, that is actually, oh, I feel like I'm gonna cry right now, but it's like, like, just, just this morning, it was like, that's what I needed to hear. And oftentimes when we are struggling to do something and we're so scared of, failing or like looking stupid or making a mistake. [00:12:00] Like often our default, and like certainly mine was in the past, is like, you know, come on, you can do it, you know, just like hurry up.
It's like we kind of shame ourselves of like, what are you doing? This isn't even a big deal. We're like, try and diminish it, or like, come on. And actually it's this little kid's like, what would we say to like that small version of us? And like, that's what we need to hear now. And that's what I needed to hear this morning was like, It's okay.
And like, you're doing so well and you're doing amazingly. And like, of course it's going to be scary doing something that's like completely different and completely new. Of course it feels scary doing something that's public. And it's like, you know, the people on it know how many people are on it. And it's like, if it's not 10, then it's like everyone on it knows I wasn't able to get 10 people on it or whatever.
You know, it's like all of these thoughts and it's like. But that's okay, and it's not about necessarily having ten people on it. It'd be amazing to, like, help and support and teach, like, really deeply teach these tools to ten people [00:13:00] in this amazing container and this amazing program. But, like, that's not what it's all about.
It's about helping whoever is actually there and doing this for the first time, so then I can do it again, and again, and again. And it's like, there's always going to be a first time. And it's like I'm learning. I'm practicing something totally new and it's just, yeah, I guess I just want to share that because it's like, if you find that there's something that is new and feels really scary, it's like, that's okay.
Like, of course it's going to be a bit scary. Of course all this resistance is going to come up and you're not going to want to do it. But even if, and like, it's always a check in, like when I checked in with like It's like, my intuition and my higher self, it's like, you do, I do want to do this. And so it's not like forcing myself to do something that I don't want to do, but it's like, of course there's that fear there.
Of course there is. It was the same. I did this like in person event, which was [00:14:00] amazing, but like a few weeks ago. And when I decided to do it and did the signups, it was like for 15 people. And like I moved, we moved to where we are now. a year and a bit ago when I was, like, doing the, like, selling it and I was like, do I even know 15 people in the local area that are, like, would be interested, will happen to be free, and will actually want to come along?
And, you know, it's like, I didn't really know that. And there's always that fear of, like, what if no one turns up? And then, of course, someone booked and it was like with actually one of my pals and I was like yes okay well at least at the very least there's going to be us two doing it so like that's all good anyone else is a bonus that's fine it's happening I'll get to do my workshop I'll get to like go through the process of it and that's just great and so you know it's like of course there was that fear there as well and then you just work through it and and I know that's that's the same for this but like yeah it's This is the work, isn't [00:15:00] it?
It's like, doing the things that push us and then just being so kind to ourselves. And it's like, when we are being kind to ourselves, it's actually our like, past selves that have, someone has maybe not been kind to, and that has stuck with us. And so, like, it's about us being kind to ourselves and being like, I totally get it that you're scared.
That makes total sense, and just having so much, like, care and love for ourselves, and we're still gonna do it anyway, and like, I know, you know, what I was saying to myself this morning, it was like, I've got you, like, whatever happens, you're gonna be okay, and like, that's the main thing, and I'm gonna be kind to you, and I'm gonna take care of you, and even if it doesn't work out how you thought, even if you make a mistake, even if you quote unquote fail, or whatever, like.
I've got you and that's okay. So, ah, anyway, that's not what I was going to talk about today, but I've just talked [00:16:00] about that. Anyway, hang on. I'm going to grab some lip balm because, do you ever get, like, obsessed with lip balm? I don't know if it's an ADHD thing. I feel like it is. But. I'm going to get some out of this, of here, because I feel like I really want some.
I'm going to have a swig of tea as well. Just a little breather after that. That was not what I expected to be talking about on this. Anyway, okay. What I do want to, but I just wanted to be like honest with how things are at the moment because I think especially as, as coaches, it's like. Sometimes I know, it can be like, oh, they have it all figured out and they like, they just have these like brains that just do it and they, you know, and especially it's like I have this podcast and it's like I do scary things and I do things that push me but like It doesn't mean it's not absolutely terrifying, and I cry, and I process feelings, and I don't want to do it, and I talk kindly to myself, and [00:17:00] like, take my hand, and like, do it anyway.
Like, that is still going on behind the scenes. So it's like, we are all human, we are all doing it, and the work never stops. There's always another level of it, of like, showing up in a bigger way, putting ourselves out there, doing something that feels, is new, and that feels scary, and that like, We have some fear around, like, that will continue for the rest of our life, but at every point that we go along, we have a chance to learn more about ourselves, to like, my coach says, it's this great phrase, it's like, when we're healing that part of ourselves, that like, younger part, or healing, meaning like, there's something that's happened to us in the past, and to heal it, the phrasing she uses is like, You're applying, I'm not gonna get this right, but it's like you're applying love to the parts of you that hurt.
So it's like, something is hurting, like whenever we're not doing [00:18:00] something, whenever we're like scared about something, there's a part of us that's hurting, and it's like, from when we were a kid, often. And it's just like, applying, like, the healing process is applying love to that part. So like, just being so kind, having compassion, like.
being gentle with ourselves. We're still doing it, it's not like, okay cool I'm just not gonna do any more and like that's it. I mean it depends if you want to do it, you don't have to do anything you don't want to do, but it's just, yeah, applying that love and keeping going. And so this whole, like, anything with scary goals, especially entrepreneurship as well, but like, anything with scary goals where we're like, Coming up with these bigger dreams and, like, thinking of more, like, ways we can, like, help more people or, like, that's something I help think about a lot is, like, okay, how can I reach more people?
How can I, like, help more people have these tools and, like, feel amazing about their lives and, like, feel super flowy with time and, like, how they work and, like, that's really important to me and, like, realize what they're capable of. It's, like, [00:19:00] doing that is going to require It's gonna bring up so much stuff in me.
It always does. Whenever we set these bigger, bigger goals and we're doing something we've not done before, it brings up all of our stuff. All of the stuff that's there under the surface that was always there, that was keeping us kind of playing safe and doing what we'd always done. That's all gonna come up and it like can feel really hard at the time.
So we're like, why does this thing feel so hard? I want to do it. Why am I not doing it? And there's always, always some reason and it's always some kind of like limiting belief. There's something that's happened in the past and like when you can look at that and that's the amazing power of a coach is like having, or like a therapist is like having someone to hold space and to help understand what that is and then be able to let it go and or be kind to it and just move through it and release it.
And it's almost like. Certainly after the shower today, when I'd like processed that through and like spoken to myself that way and just like let it go, I felt so much lighter and I was [00:20:00] able to come on here and like chat and actually be honest about it. I think if I was really in it, I wouldn't have been able to share that with you.
Whereas I've kind of processed it through, I've moved on from it. So now I'm like, Oh, that is something I've learned. That is some wisdom that I can then share. It is like 20 something minutes gone and I have literally still not even talked about what I'm talking about. Okay, let's see if we can do it in the last like 10 minutes.
So I could just leave it there but
I want to talk today about intuitive planning, okay? So
this is something that I've been developing like over the last few months and I think Okay, this is actually probably going to be a longer podcast. I'm just going to go with it because I was trying to be like, I could do this and this and maybe I should put like what I've just talked about in a separate podcast.
No, I'm just going to go with it and you can just have all of this and it might just be a slightly longer podcast. I'm going to take another swig of tea. So buckle up. So March time last year in [00:21:00] 2024, I was completely burned out. I'd been like fighting against the business and I'd realized that I'd like.
I created this program, created this, like, built the business in a way that, like, it just didn't feel fun or flowy for me and I was like, I don't think this is, like, some of the things that maybe teaching, I'm like, I don't know if it resonates with me as much anymore. There were tools that I had learned, then I'd adapted and I'd been teaching and I was like, this isn't what works best for me anymore and yet I'm still Like, sharing them with others, and, or I was starting to share them a bit less with others, but I was like, it just feels a little bit, like, out of alignment, a little bit disconnected.
And I thought, I was like, okay, it's maybe, like, I don't really want to be teaching on time management anymore, maybe it's, like, something a bit different, but what I have now realized is that, because I'm focusing more on, like, supporting people with [00:22:00] ADHD or creative brains, neurodivergent people, because, like, That's an identity I'm stepping into.
I'm like owning that and I know that I have so many amazing tools that have completely changed my life and enabled me to be like, Oh, actually, I can use my like crazy brain, lovely crazy brain, in a really powerful way, rather than just like feeling like I'm fighting against it. And so I'm like, Okay, now it feels I'm like, right, this is my mission is to help
purposeful, creative people with ADHD or neurodivergent people like, take these tools and be able to run with that as well so that they can make more impact in the world. So now that I'm kind of focusing more on that, I'm like, well actually understanding and our relationship with time and like, goal setting and creating like, is a huge part of it.
And the time piece is a huge part of it. It's something that I have struggled with like, most of my whole life and Since finding coaching, like, completely shifted my relationship with and developed this, like, planning [00:23:00] framework, which I'd been taught some of it, and then I'd added different elements, and I was like, I just don't think that planning framework actually works for my brain.
I think it can, but it almost feels, it felt quite, like, restrictive. It didn't account for my Very variable energy levels. So this is something a lot of people with neurodivergent people or people with ADHD have, is like varying energy levels. So, again, sometimes I can be like so into something, have loads of focus and then the next day like I'm just actually really tired or I just need to rest.
And actually this is from, I can't remember where this study is. But, anyway, there's a study that's been done which is like. People with ADHD, they've traced it back and there's, there's a theory that it developed as part of when we were like nomadic and we would be in tribes and it was the hunters that had the ADHD traits.
So, for example, they would have periods of like [00:24:00] intense hyper focus and they would have, I guess what we have, high distractibility which is like, or some people have, is you can, they would pick up on like tiny little movements so they'd be out hunting tiny little movements that could be like, oh there's an animal there or there's something like they're very aware lots of like input coming from different directions, noises, sounds, smell, like everything on basically like lots of information coming in at once.
was very, very useful when you're tracking an animal or like working about hunting and having intense bursts of energy and being able to like do that for, I don't know, hunt for like a day, a couple days and then actually needing to rest afterwards. So that was very helpful and developed as a very helpful gene and so it was passed on.
Now the way that we have designed our lives in like the modern world where it's like you're stuck inside in front of a screen and it's like And especially our working world at the moment from the Industrial Revolution, where it was like, okay, there was like factory [00:25:00] outputs and production lines, and then it's like, okay, now we're gonna work eight hours a day, five days a week, and it's like, that's just not how people used to work, like, especially when there wasn't even lighting, it's like, people would nap and sleep longer, and it's like, they would work in with the seasons, and in winter would have a bit less energy, and maybe do a bit less, and then in the summer, there would be a bit more like, building and producing and growing and like that's how Generally humans and animals if you think about it like a lot of animals hibernate in the winter It's like we would just be so in tune with the season like we had developed to do that And then our modern world is like fluorescent lighting inside in front of a screen working like yeah, 40 hour weeks as like the standard so many people work more than that and it's like it is Sorry, I really need some more tea.
It is so far from, not only what like humans, if you think that we are animals, like thrive in, but it's also so far, especially when you, we have these ADHD brains that [00:26:00] are amazing and highly creative and like can see patterns and connections and work super fast, but also can get very distracted with the pings of technology and like wanting to be on all the time and we can get very tired if we're like, Especially if we don't want to do something because we have interest led brains.
Like, I still remember being in meetings and I would literally, like, dig my nails into, like, the palms of my hands to try and keep myself awake, or I would, like, doodle on the side of a page to be like, okay, I need to, like, focus, need to focus, need to focus. I just found it so hard, when I wasn't actually into something, to get myself to want to do it.
And so, partly with that, I also noticed, like, and a lot of my clients as well, is like. So, um, I think that, like, with the planning process that I was teaching, and it could work, and I could get more done for sure, and it helped a lot more than having no planning process. Like, planning is basically just, like, making decisions about what you're going to be spending your time on ahead of time.
And planning is so powerful because it means, like, in the moment. [00:27:00] You're not like, what should I be doing now? What should I be doing now? And oftentimes when we don't have a plan, it's like we're on our phones or we're like tidying something or doing something else. So having a plan, some kind of plan, very, very helpful.
Having a focus, very helpful, especially with ADHD brains. However, some of the things that like weren't resonating as much with clients and actually weren't resonating as much with me, especially after having my son, when You know, sometimes I wouldn't sleep that well at night, or whatever, if there was stuff going on, or if he was up, and I'd be so tired the next day, and like, there'd be different things in, or like, he'd be off sick, and I'd have to, like, rejig stuff.
And so sometimes I'd find, and again, clients would find this as well, is like, when they had planned out their whole week, there's loads of benefits of that, is like, you have a weekly look ahead, and like, you can understand, but like, if things change, or if energy levels change, if you like, wake up, and you're just like, phew, I am.
I'm really tired and actually my body just needs rest or to do something else and you've got this like [00:28:00] back to back day where you're producing this and this and this and like especially women like we have a menstrual cycle like we don't have the same hormones every day we don't like especially throughout the day throughout the month we don't have the same output no one does especially ADHDers and it's like or people with neurodivergence it's like we just don't have that it's this like false thing that we've taken on from the industrial revolution and actually So, what I was realizing is, like, this planning process was slightly assuming that.
In fact, it was very much assuming that. And also, it's very easy to get into the place of, like, I should be doing these things, I should be doing this, I should be doing this, and packing more in. Rather than actually being like, what is it I actually need? And really thinking about time management as like, or like, time as a way to just live a life that actually lights you up.
Yeah, of course you're creating things and you're like, making things happen and moving things forward, but it's not this just like, packing things in, getting things done, taking things off. Which, I think the previous planning [00:29:00] process, it was easy to get into. And I think also the other bit, and this feels a bit hard actually sharing all this, because Like, I've taught this and, and I guess it's like, things that I've been like, this is the way you want to do things and it's amazing, I've changed my mind on because it doesn't work for me anymore.
And I think it can feel a bit scary and there's almost like a little bit of, kind of a bit of like shame maybe around it as well, but I'm kind of letting that go and just being like, do you know what, sometimes you can think something works and then it just doesn't or you can decide to change that and it's almost like I'm just giving myself permission to be like.
I am letting go of old ways of doing things and old beliefs because I have found a better way that works with my brain. And it's like, once I started giving myself permission to work with my brain, I was like, oh, this way of working is actually much better. And, yeah, the other piece is just like assuming, yes, like assuming same energy levels all the time.
And, [00:30:00] just not, yeah, it was just not accounting, oh yeah, that was the other thing, is like, sometimes as an ADHD er, I Like, like I find a bit of structure, a bit of routine very helpful for, I'm not having to make decisions in the moment, like that I find very helpful, but I also really need novelty and newness and to be able to change my mind.
And sometimes when it was like all planned out. I felt almost like trapped, and I know, and there's an element of being like, I can coach myself around that, I can be like, I love this, I don't feel trapped, this is great, like, I can do that work, and like, we can all do that work, but there's an element of like, but do I actually want to, or is there another way of working where I don't feel like that, where I still get the like flowy, creative, like novelty, spontaneity, But also I'm able to create things and get things done that, and it's not all about getting things done, but you do want to, well, I do want to like actually create [00:31:00] things and not just like flit around between different stuff.
So there's all of these different bits of like, the process I talked before, there's so many amazing elements to it that like still I've taken forward into what I now have called intuitive planning. But there's, there's just this completely different approach, which is. Rather than like, here are the steps you want to follow to plan your whole week, it's like, what is it that's gonna work for you?
And it's almost building your own way of planning and doing it intuitively. And intuitively meaning that you're listening to yourself, you're listening to your body, you're listening to your wisdom, your higher self, and almost like drowning out the noise of not being like, I should be doing these things, or, someone else is doing it this way so I have to do it this way, or I have to follow these exact steps that Hazel has said, or anything like that.
It's like moving, or someone else has said, it's like moving away from that and being like, what works really well for me, and just playing with it. Which is kind of what I would encourage my clients anyway to do when I was [00:32:00] teaching this process previously, is like, take it and make it work for you. But I think sometimes it can be really easy for, And I've done this before, and I've been unpicking a lot of this, is like, I have to follow these steps because these steps are what will create the outcome.
And that is just not true. Like, what will create the outcome of like, having a life that works for you, feeling like you're super creative and getting all these amazing things done that you want to, also resting, also playing, also doing stuff that makes you feel alive, also just like, connecting with yourself, with nature, with other people.
It is down to how you are thinking and feeling, how you are being when you are doing these things and how you are being when you're making decisions about what you're spending your time on. So actually, it doesn't really matter the process that you follow. It's like figuring out what are the bits that really resonate with you and like leaving the rest.
And that is what intuitive planning is about. It's like much more of a, it's like a menu of like, Pick, pick which ones resonate with you [00:33:00] and play with them and in different, it's almost like even in different seasons of your life, stuff might resonate more and stuff might not.
So for example, even one of the elements is like, bringing in what's called like focus time.
So where you have your, like no distractions, you don't have meetings, like everything's away and you're just focused on creating something. Maybe it's like updating. A web, web page or like a sales page or maybe it's creating a podcast like this. It's like you're creating something that wasn't there before, but you're not distracted and like at the end of it, you have something that wasn't there before because it's very easy.
Oftentimes we don't build in this time or maybe it's like thinking time where you're like going out for a walk and you're like thinking about something. And so, but there's different ways of playing with that. Like it, maybe it's, you have it for an hours. Maybe sometimes it's like a few hours punctuated throughout the week.
Like that feels really good for the season of life you're in. And other times, maybe you want a full day of just like, creating, no calls, no [00:34:00] anything, and you're just focused on getting loads of things done, or you're like, really into it. And sometimes that's not going to work, like, sometimes I think that's what I want, and then I check in in the day, and I'm like, ah, I just need to like, see people, like, I feel like I've been in this room or whatever on my own, and I'm like, okay, I'm going to go out to a cafe and do that and change it.
And so it's, it's like, Checking in, the key thing is checking in with what you need and really checking in that and then either adjusting or tweaking or like changing the way that you're approaching stuff and not being like, well this is how I always plan my week in this rigid structure so I have to follow that.
Because it's like, the cookie cutter way of doing it, how you do it for you, like it's gonna vary week on week, it's gonna vary day on day and it's just let it, like trusting yourself. That, that's okay, and that actually that's going to help you create way more impact and way bigger results because you're taking care of your energy, you're taking care of like, wanting the spontaneity and [00:35:00] wanting to be in nature and wanting to do something a bit different and like, maybe working in a cafe for a bit and like, building in a little bit of those like, things that actually light you up and that feel amazing, like, That's what will then keep your energy levels high, not energy levels high, but like help you feel in a more just like flowy, easeful energy of like, when you're just like, boom, boom, boom, is like not forcing yourself not being like, Oh, I've got all this like back to back to back to back stuff, but like playing, having like play in there so that it just feels really creative.
I'm probably not explaining it in a very good way, but when I guess, okay, so the key things to think about. when you're thinking about planning intuitively, is one of the questions, and I've been asking myself this, and actually this could be the key question just to take away. Well, two pieces, one, checking in, so like, at the beginning of the week, or ahead of the week, I do this like on a Sunday night, I'm like, what do I need this week?[00:36:00]
It's almost like, what does my body need, what do I need this week, and then almost like, what does the world need this week? So it's almost like, having a think about those different things, and just like, listening and letting like, whatever comes up. And even asking your priorities for the week that way, like, what are the three things that are really important this week?
And it might be, so like, when I used to do this in the past, and I'd be like, okay, priorities for the week, I used to just write them like, from my head, and it'd be like, they would be things that I was getting done, or like, Some focus. Whereas it's really interesting, once I've been checking in with my intuition, sometimes the word that comes up is connection.
I'm like, okay, connection is what I need this week. And then I'm like, I'm like, huh, is that connection to me? Connection to my clients connection? And it's like other stuff will come up. Whereas when I was just like, okay, priorities for the week, boom, boom, boom. And very much in a like masculine energy tasks and planning and like getting things done, da da, which is how I used to approach stuff.
pre burnout and like how we've been shifting over the last like year. [00:37:00] I, I would never have, that would never come up as a priority. It'd be like, well, this thing is done and do this thing. It was very, very much more in like done, like these things. And like, sometimes that'll come up when I check in the priorities with my intuition, but it's just a different, different stuff that will come up.
So yeah, so the first key, the key thing, so two things is one is like, what do I need this week? And you can check like on the world. What do I need this week? Just listening, whatever comes up. And then, what are my priorities this week? That will be so helpful for helping you guide what you want to be focusing your time on this week.
And then, the second piece is, the way I've been doing it anyway, is like then asking that question, Okay, well what do I need tomorrow? So like if I'm slightly, I'll like plan the next day, the night before. You can do it the day before but I do it kind of the night before if I have like an hour on my own or something.
I don't take an hour to plan but I'll just be like, okay, what do I need for tomorrow? Come and map that out. And then I will put it [00:38:00] in the calendar, okay? So the second thing I would really advise is to use your calendar as like a place to have what the different things you're doing. So using, time blocking out chunks of time of like, Okay, this time I'm doing this thing, this time I'm doing this thing, because when you have just a to do list, you're not really clear on what's important, what's a priority, what's actually just like, oftentimes we can take off the quick wins, the easy wins, rather than like spending time on what's really impactful and what's really important.
And so when you actually are thinking about what's important and then putting it in your calendar, like, that's going to make sure you're doing the stuff that's actually going to move you forward. If you think by the end of the year, when you focus not on just like, your inbox and emails and ticking like the quick wins off but the bigger stuff that you're probably avoiding like I was in the shower this morning I was like oh like no this is the important impactful stuff that like in a year is going to make a big difference like when you focus more on that like that's the stuff that it doesn't take as much time you're like you don't have to spend more time but you're just [00:39:00] shifting what's important and what's a priority and when you see So if you spend your time on what's a priority, that's where you make way more impact and way less time.
Because you're not doing all the busy stuff, you're not doing all the like, stuff that takes time and energy, and it feels productive, but actually it's just a distraction. So much of it is. So it's focusing on the big stuff first, and then the other, so, oh yeah, so first step, checking with what you need, and then your priorities.
Second one, really using your calendar. And the third piece is then Just checking in every single day that you are working, or even not. Like, I've been doing this intuitive planning the days that I have Flynn as well. And it's been great. It's been amazing. Like, I've noticed such a shift when I've done this in the days I have with him.
I'm way more present. I'm way more relaxed. The days feel more adventurous. I've, like, packed lunch and sorted everything the night before. I'm not trying to scramble around in the morning and do that. I'm like, oh, what am I doing today? I'm like, oh, I know exactly what I'm going to do [00:40:00] today and it's going to be so fun.
And I'm like already mentally rehearsing it, but also just checking in again in the morning. That's the third part with like, does this still resonate with what I need today? So again, it's asking the question, what do I need today? And just listening for the answer and just trusting that it's okay if you shift things around.
So like, for example, Wow, this is a really long one. Well done you if you're still listening. so on like Tuesday this week I was working and I was just so tired and like And I was like, trying to do this thing and just fighting and blah, blah, blah. And eventually I was like, I'm just going to go for a walk.
And I was like, what do I need? And it was like, I just need a walk and almost like to park everything. And it was easy to be like, Oh, but I've got this in my calendar and I said I should do it. But it's like, I just checked in and it was like, this is not, this is not where my head's at. This is not where my energy levels are at.
And almost just like being like, and it's okay. Like I know I said I would do it today. I know I said I would get the podcast published on Tuesday. Well, it's gonna be last [00:41:00] Friday, but even Tuesday, but it's like, I'm just gonna let it go that it's just gonna have skipped a week and I'll just give people two podcasts this week and like, that's okay.
And I let it go and I rested and I had an early night and I had an early night last night and like today I have so much energy and I know that because I gave myself the space to just step away and be like, it's okay. I'm gonna create and have a way bigger impact on like the stuff I do today and tomorrow than if I had just pushed through, been like uh, and then yesterday been like beating myself up and then like today I've just been in a heavy space.
Like because I was able to let it go and just be like it's okay and just rest, I was able to do that. And I think one thing that like I know when I started doing this work came up and that maybe is coming up for you is like Yeah, but if I'm not fully plan like, say you, either you don't plan at all, and in, in which case planning is amazingly helpful, and I really suggest you do it, but then you can get into the over planning, which is what I was doing before, and [00:42:00] kind of what I was, not what I was teaching, but it was like, what I was teaching could be taken, and over planning, over doing of like, okay, do, do, do, do, do.
Um, rather than like, listening to your energy and shifting your energy, and then just making everything a bit flowier. A bit more like, feminine approach to it, than, and like, really listening to your body. Like, it can be easy to be like, yeah, but if I don't do all my priorities and my actions and like, pack it all in, I won't get as much done.
I won't actually like, make the impact I want to make. And I just want to offer that that is not true. And, or it's like, or I'll just rest all the time and not do anything. And I also want to offer that is not true either, because the, first of all, the outcome and the impact that you make is driven by your energy, how you were being while you're doing it.
It doesn't actually matter what you're doing. And oftentimes when you're in a more flowy, creative, expansive energy, the thing you're creating is higher quality. So like this podcast, if I was just like, it would maybe not resonate with you as much. But like, also, [00:43:00] Yeah, so the, the outcome is often better, but often you can get things done in much less time because you're not resisting it so much because like, you're actually just letting yourself be with whatever it is.
So there's an element of like, when you actually listen to what you need in a moment. Um, you will get the important things done in a way that works best for you, not in a way that you thought you should do or that other people do, but like actually in a way that works best for you. And I think the second thing is like, yeah, it's easy to be like, Oh, well, if I just let like let myself off the hook or like give myself permission to just do whatever, then I'll just not do anything.
And also I just want to offer that it's not true. When you drop the like, I should do this and this is the way I should do it and like the forcing and the heaviness. It becomes easier because you're just, you're like, Ooh, I really want to do this. And like, when you're actually checking in with your intuition, you are so much more in tune with like, what you actually want to be doing.
And because we have interest-led brains, as ADHDers, neurodivergent folks, it's like, it's so much easier to just [00:44:00] do things without even thinking about them because it's just like, oh cool, I'm just gonna do this thing and then, like, because we're in a like, much easier flowier energy, like the thing, we're just being us and the things we create is much easier.
more exciting and everything just feels more easeful when we actually listen and do things in a way that work for us. It can feel really hard, really scary because it's like I should do this and I should have this packed full calendar and I should do all these things. It's like I just want to offer you that you do not.
That is what I've been figuring out is like you do not. And So, with intuitive planning, like, that is where, yes, you're still planning, you're still using your calendar, and there's still all the different bits that, like, I teach you around, like, Parkinson's law, and, like, how long things take, and, and, like, how to actually figure out, like, what the different steps are within things and breaking things down.
But, like, and how to actually use your calendar, and, like, what focus time is, like, like, all of that kind of stuff. That is all part of it. but. It's just the approach to what [00:45:00] you're putting on there and, like, how you're doing things. That is what changes. And with intuitive planning, it, like, literally has been such a game changer.
I, I'm just having way more fun in my, like, day to day. And I just feel more rested, I feel more flowy, especially compared to, like, this time, like, last year. It is honestly so different, like, I can't even explain how different it is. I was so depressed, I was, like, Oh, it was just awful. Because I was forcing so much and being like, I have to do things this way and it was just like, eventually my body was like, no.
So, it's been a long one. We've been here for like, 47 minutes. So, the key thing, I just wanna, oh yeah, with all of this, intuitive planning is gonna be one of the things that I am teaching you and that you will be doing in the Focus and Flow group program, okay? I'm just gonna tell you a little bit about it.
So focus and flow Because we will be focused you will be creating and it's gonna be so flowy it's all about just like working in a different [00:46:00] way working in a way that actually Works for you uniquely your energy levels your life your business your brain What excites you what interests you and actually like tapping into more of that?
And also learning all the mindset tools, manifestation tools, like connecting with nature. There's so many different elements that I will be teaching over the 12 weeks, and so come together for 12 weeks. It's gonna be on Zoom, so wherever you are in the world, you can join, you can come and be part of this.
Our very first call is gonna be a two hour visioning workshop where we're gonna create a vision for your life, your business. How you want to work, like your ways of working, like who you are becoming. So we'll be together. That's going to be the 28th of February, 12 till 2pm UK time on Zoom. There'll be replays of all the calls.
And each week there's going to be like fun little challenges and games. So it's going to be like super fun and it's going to, you're not just going to be like consuming. You know, it's easy [00:47:00] to just like listen to the podcast and that's fine or like read a book. But it's like you're actually going to be doing it.
You're going to be taking it away. It's like doing something and like rewiring your brain, shifting your nervous system so that you are doing things in a different way, that you are being a different person and that you are like just working in a way that like you're not like rushing in last minute for the deadlines and like packing loads in and getting burned out and just like forcing and blah.
But it's like you're working with your amazing, creative, vibrant brain. We also are going to have, every Thursday, we are going to have like a body doubling session. So it's going to be a focus time on Zoom where we'll come together. And if you haven't done like focus time, this is your chance to practice it.
Also one thing that's so helpful with, those of us who have ADHD, is being with someone that's like working at the same time, not even talking. So we'll be on Zoom, not even talking, but we'll all be there working together and so it's bringing something like that you've maybe been putting off or something that requires deeper thinking or more strategic [00:48:00] thinking or that like longer term planning piece that often is the stuff that's really important but we kind of just like push away and we are focusing on the firefighting and the doing and the like the busy stuff and the like day to day stuff.
This is where we're going to be doing some of that like, deeper thinking, that more strategic work, but we're going to be doing it together. So every single week, every fourth week we're going to have off is like an integration week so you can take the tools you've learned over the last three weeks, take them away, really bed them in, really reflect, just rest, like whatever feels good for you.
There's also going to be a community so we can be chatting in between the sessions. So you can get any coaching you want in between sessions as well. And we're going to be Helping you, like, step into that next version of yourself, step into that identity of what you know is possible, of shifting your relationship with time, shifting your relationship with planning, and how you plan your weeks and your days and how you listen to your body and listen to your energy levels and tap into your intuition and also watch your brain for when all of these beliefs like come up of like, [00:49:00] there's fear around there, we'll coach on all of that, we'll like unblock, because part of coaching it's like, it's not just about believing new things and like shifting into that identity and like setting a bigger vision, it's part of that, but like when you do that, all of the quote unquote old stuff, the stuff that's like from your past or like from society that we've like been conditioned that we don't even under, like truly understand where it has come from, some of it.
Or we can understand but like we haven't decided for it to be there. That will all bubble up to the surface and we will coach on that. So we will be like releasing and letting go of these limiting beliefs that are standing in the way of where you want to be and also creating that bigger vision and like supporting you on that.
So there's the kind of two bits. It's the like, Focusing on where you want to go and getting really clear and having the tools to get there and also having the tools to manage your brain and your emotions and like work through all of those in a way that you're like letting go of the stuff that's like kind of holding you back.
I imagine it almost like you're trying to move forward but there's like [00:50:00] chains or there's something that's like kind of keeping you stuck and it's just letting them go and releasing them and then you'll have the energy and the momentum to move forward and things will change so quickly. Especially in a group setting like.
Group coaching is, I mean I love one on one coaching, but group coaching is so powerful because I always think of it as like, we, you're not only learning about your own brain and yourself, but you're learning with others. So you're understanding like when other people are getting coached on something or figuring something out, you're like, oh wait I do that too.
So it's almost like, You learn things about yourself at such a higher rate It's like you're understanding, yes, yourself, but like with other people as well. It's also so amazing to have like a supportive, loving community of like people all going through it together. That's why I'm like so passionate about this and I'm also screening it as well, of like really making sure, okay, who's in, who's applying, and like making sure there's a really good fit as well.
It's going to be so amazing. Anyway, go, go into the [00:51:00] show notes if you're like, I want to be part of the focus and flow group coaching, I would love you to be there. Like, if you're feeling called to do this, if you've listened this far and you're feeling called to do this, then it is for you. Okay. And you're so welcome here.
And like, it is designed for you and it's going to be fun. It's going to be playful. There's going to be lots of like, like. The more that we can make learning, like, fun and playful, the more that we learn about ourselves. It's like, this isn't heavy, this isn't for us, it's gonna be so playful, so fun, so creative, and uniquely you as well.
Like, all of these tools that you'll then learn, you can take and apply to literally anything. Like, because it's super practical, you're gonna take them, be applying them, you're gonna have almost this, like, toolkit at the end that, like, you're like, okay, cool, what am I doing next? Or, like, What's happening?
What else do I want to change? And like, it will just have this snowball effect once you start working in one area of your life. So amazing. And also any questions. You can book a call as well, like a 30 minute call if you want to chat through it, or like, for me to answer any questions.
