How to become your Time CEO

When you start thinking like the CEO of your time, you’ll make strategic decisions to protect and invest it.

A time CEO mindset means every single thing you spend your precious time and energy on becomes 100% your responsibility.

It’s a complete mindset shift from how many people think about time: that they’re at the effect of it and not responsible.

Our clients embody this time CEO mindset.

They take full ownership for how they spend their time, knowing that no one else is responsible.

Just them.

Of course it feels really scary and vulnerable when they first start thinking like this.

Because it means facing up to the fact that they’ve been choosing to be too busy.

That it’s been their choice to fire up their laptop after dinner instead of spending time with their family.

And that they can no longer blame the team, that client or the project for the 6 x 30min back-to-back meetings they’ve got in their diary on Thursday. Yes, they were invited, but it was their decision to accept.

It might seem easier not to face up to this.

To not own the fact that it’s their choice to be busy and rushed.

And to be honest, it is easier.

It’s way easier and more comfortable to blame clients, meetings and Zoom than accept responsibility.

In the short term, anyway.

But the reason our clients are willing to feel uncomfortable stepping into this time CEO mindset is because of what’s on the other side:

Freedom.

Because our clients know when they take responsibility for their time, they have full control to change what’s not working.

When they think like the CEO of their time, they make decisions about when they want to work. And so they no longer work evenings and weekends because they “have to” or there's “so much to do”. They decide not to and then prioritise what work they do.

They decide that they don’t want 8 hours of back-to-back meetings after all. And so they delegate or just say no. They stop going to meetings just because they were invited. That’s not what a CEO of their time would do.

They stop answering their phone immediately when it rings, even if it’s a client. They’re only contactable on their own terms, at times they’ve decided in advance.

They no longer complain about being too busy. Because they know that busyness is a choice. And they’ve chosen not to be too busy.

Instead, they carve out hours each day for thinking and planning.

Time to think at their highest level and make the best strategic decisions for their business.

They schedule in exercise and rest. They know that protecting their time means protecting their energy too.

And they have focused, unhurried days where everything gets done without stress or rush.

So think about whether you find yourself blaming others, or things around you for your busyness or lack of time.

If you do, it's ok.

But just know in those moments, you’re telling yourself that you don’t have control.

Which just isn’t true.

You have 100% control over how you spend your time.

When you embrace the time CEO mindset, your whole life will change.

You’ll no longer wish you could just press pause to have a break. Because you’ll have created your days and weeks in a way that works best for you.

Our planning and coaching process teaches you step-by-step exactly how to do this.

You’ll no longer feel at the effect of your projects, clients, team or inbox.

Instead you’ll feel in control and on top of things.

No matter what’s going on around you.

This is the most important work you’ll ever do.

It’s the foundation that you then apply to every other part of your life - taking ownership for what you have right now and making decisions to change what’s not working.

And it all comes from thinking like the CEO of your time.
