No more stressful meetings

There’s no such thing as a stressful meeting.

Even if a client says something you didn’t want to hear or one of your team tells you they’re leaving.

That meeting can’t make you feel stressed.

 

It’s your brain’s interpretation of the meeting that’s causing the stress.

 

This is because of how our mind works.

Any feelings we have (e.g. stress) are caused by our thoughts, which are simply sentences in our brain.

And so if you're feeling stressed - it's because of what you’re thinking about the meeting.

Not the meeting itself.

 

And we know this is true because you could ask someone else in the meeting how they’re feeling and it probably won’t be stressed.

Maybe the client feels confident or your team member feels relieved.

Or I could be in the same meeting and not feel stressed. 

 

So we know it’s not the meeting causing the stress or else everyone in it would feel the same.

It’s just your brain’s interpretation of the meeting, your thoughts about the meeting.

That’s what’s causing you to feel stressed.

 

Which is the best news.

It means you don't have to feel stressed.

 

Because although you can’t control what a client or your team says. 

You can control how you interpret what’s said. 

You can control how you want to think - and therefore how you want to feel - about the meeting. 

 

Meetings never have to be stressful.

Because whether or not you feel stressed is 100% in your control. 

No matter what happens in the meeting.
