How to care less what others think

Many purpose-driven people get stuck worrying about what others think.

And when they do this, they lose sight of the impact their voice can have to shape the world in the way they want.

Because when they’re questioning if what they have to say is good enough or worrying about letting people down, they're less likely to use their voice at all.

It’s pretty hard to speak up when you’re up in your own head.

So just know that time spent worrying what others think isn’t helpful at all - it’ll always hold you back and keep you small.

And in reality, you can guess and assume all you like, but you’ll never really know what someone else is thinking anyway.

And even if you could - or even if they tell you - you can’t change it.

People think what they think. Based on their brain, their biases, their life experiences, their thought patterns.

So what someone thinks - even about you - is actually 100% about them and their perspective, and 0% about you.

So why spend any energy worrying about what they think at all?

And here’s the funny thing: everyone else is ALSO in their own head, worrying about what others think.

Chances are they're not even remotely thinking about you at all - unless they're wondering what you think about them.

So instead of worrying about what others think of you, focus on what you can control:

how YOU think about you.

Because when you believe that what you have to say is important and that your voice can drive change, then you’ll create that change.

You’ll be courageous and say the hard thing.

You’ll speak up even when it’s difficult for others to hear through the noise.

You’ll stand out and embrace telling a different story.

One that needs to be heard.

What you have to offer your organisation, your clients, your community and the world is powerful.

Don’t stay small by worrying what others think.

Have the courage to stay focused on what YOU think.
