How to get A+ results

The best piece of work you can create is this:

the one that’s done.

Because a proposal isn’t useful if it’s not finished.

It can’t be reviewed or sent to the client.

A finished proposal at B- quality beats an unfinished proposal at A+ quality any day.

All those ideas, genius and wisdom you have in your brain? They're not going to make an impact if they’re not out in the world.

And yes, it can feel scary.

Because it means people can comment, voice their own opinions, say they wouldn’t have done it that way, say that idea isn’t clear, tell you they disagree.

But this is how you make progress. This is how your ideas become reality.

And when you’re focused on only letting other people see A+, you probably spend a lot of time polishing things.

Crafting a "perfect" introduction - or choosing the "best" word to explain that concept.

Stuff that, if you're honest, no one except you will notice anyway.

And yet all this sucks up so much of your precious time and mental energy on tweaks that won't make a difference.

Instead of finishing at B- then moving onto the strategy report or helping organise the team day.

So if you find yourself doing this, keep focused on creating work that’s to a B- standard.

B- is still very good work, done to a high standard and absolutely not sloppy.

But it’s not trying to be perfect (whatever "perfect" means).

And when you create a B- version of the proposal (likely in 20% of the time it would take you to do an A+ version) here’s the thing:

you can always polish it to A+ afterwards.

If you want.

But I guarantee most of the time you’ll realise it’s good enough as it is and that A+ isn’t required.

So you can get cracking on the next piece of impactful work.

Because B- quality will help you make more A+ impact in your work and the world.

Doing this will save you so much time.

And with coaching we'll show you exactly how to get over this perfectionist mindset.

It means you’ll stop working right up until the deadline finishing the conclusions and recommendations for the report, because you’ll have already had a B- version weeks ago.

You've already sent it to rest of the team for review, instead of asking them to spend their precious evenings reviewing your work.

And now it’s just doing a few adjustments here and there.

So remember, the best piece of work is the one that’s done.

Get it done to B- quality, then decide whether it really needs more of your time.

And know that reaching B- means making more A+ impact.
